Quote of the day: 27th October 2005

"UJ needs to bring movies or they shouldn't come to the MC house for their LC planning weekend."
- Abey Tau, MC VP People Development
Movie night!

I think last night was probably the first evening that when Tarek & Hanna are out Abey, Ildi & I are not fighting over the lap to work. We actually decided to watch a movie, of course with minor disagreement over what to watch.

So after 30 minutes of discussion over whether it's "Ocean's Eleven" or "Harry Potter", we finally made our decision. But as usual, watching a movie requires process, people need to get their coffee, tea, pillow, blancket... When everything was done, Ildi went missing in the bathroom!!! Now, how can she be in the bathroom for so long?! Not less than 10 minutes!

How do you know when you are on the MC and is working too hard? Well, answer is, Abey asked Ildi: "Ildi, are you going to the cinema or watching a movie with us? It's up to you!"

In the end, we kinda had a relaxing, non-working evening. But we failed to finish the movie... Abey, how could you have ran away!?

Ok, so when I started this blog I promised myself that: "I will keep this blog interesting, up-to-date, and not let it die!". But the truth is, you see, for someone that don't blog, you really don't know what to blog.

And honestly, the last thing I want is to make this some sort of self-indulgent, self-absorbed, boring blog. So, what is my point? Yes, there should always be a point! I really admire people that write interesting blogs! Is it possible that someone publish a book called "Blogging 101" or "Blogging for Dummies"?!?!?!

The ultimate game drive...

The date was 22nd October, the time was 11pm, the place was somewhere on a game farm (I actually don't know the name of the game farm...), the problem was our Landrover has just broke down... So, you must be wondering, if we were stuck in a broke down Landy in the middle of the night, and have 4 cheetahs living on the game farm, how can it possibly be the ULTIMATE game drive??

Well, this has to do with the fact that we seem to have a particular luck with broken down vehicles... I mean what would you say when you are in the same kind of situation again in 3 weeks time?!

You see, it was 3 weeks prior to this particular incidence, also on a Sunday that we had a break down. Now, picture this, after a fun and relaxing day at Sun City all you want to do is go home, right? No, first the car (Tarek's car) needs to break down in the middle of the night in Rustenburg!

So, when we broke down this time, I immediately had flash backs & de javu of the previous misfortune. I mean how lucky can you be that you experience 2 break downs in the period of 1 month!?

Moral of the story: ALWAYS have a back-up plan.

Quote of the day:

"... I didn't see him, maybe he was shorter than me..."

16 October 2005
It's been 4 months now that I've been working for AIESEC South Africa (that is including the transition period). A lots have happened in the past 4 months. Many adventures, memorable moments, interesting experiences, etc. And everytime we always say: "... we need to have a MC blog to tell people about our experiences...", and everytime we always put it off. So, I think it is time for us to stop saying/planning and start doing (quite like our work at the moment).
This is my blog, diarising my personal and professional experiences as the MC of AIESEC South Africa 2005/2006. We've had many adventures and I expect more to come. This is the space for me to share my MC experience with you from my perspective.
