Rice field

Rice field

Rice, the essential diet of the Taiwanese people. This is an "organic" rice field. Apparently they don't use pesticide in the entire cultivating process. Speak of health & safety conscious!!!

Nevertheless, it's still beautiful scenery. Rice fields used to be quite common in Taiwan. These days lands are more used for city development purposes. You'll really need to go to the country to see plantations.

We spotted these 2 antiques at a holiday resort. They were to die for. I couldn't resist yet another photo opportunity. :-)

Have you seen the movie "Memoire of a Geisha"?

Well, I couldn't help myself when there was a perfect photo opportunity... anyhow, so this was the end result of it... my geisha moment.

Luckily, you can't see my face really well.

A photo speaks more than a thousand words

I did some travelling after I came back to Taiwan. So these are just some photos from then. It's not that I've gone away again (even though I wish that was the case). I'll try to make a habit of it to keep regular photo updates. :-)

Taipei 101... part 2

Taipei 101

Ok, this is not a 2nd blog about the Taipei 101. No, I don't actually go there often. Instead, this is the photo I owed when I made my 1st posting.

Impressive, isn't it? I tried to make some videos both inside and outside the building. Unfortunately I can't put them here... I don't want to be sued by some international, over-sensitive boutique store, namely Louis Vuitton. Not to mention all the other stores that were in the shots. So, this is the best I can do. :-D

Do you also do that?

I think my bitter-sweetness of having a blog is: I re-read what I've written. Does anyone else do that or is it just me?? I mean, right now I'm stuck here waiting for my own blog to re-load and give me the latest posting.

Somehow I often fall into the trap of admiring my own work... then changing it, until I'm satisfied with it. I've tried cutting down on doing it though. I mean the changing part, but I just can't help it if there is grammatic error or the wrong fonts/colour.

But my biggest frustration is still about posting pictures on my blog. I mean I've got Picasa, which supposedly can post pictures with the click of the button... well, let's just say that neither you nor I are seeing pictures on my blog, right? So, if anyone who is reading this, and feeling my frustration... please enlighten me!!

Small town... an even smaller world

So a lots of people say that "it's a small world", but I've never experienced it quite this way...

So this is what happened. A lady from work (well, actually she doesn't work there anymore) is going back to Canada, just out of my curious nature I asked her where she is from. She said: "well, it's a very small town in Canada, most people don't really know about it". Then I thought of someone, who once also came from a small town in Canada, i.e. Fred. So I asked: "where? Saskatoon?"... and I was right on the money.

Also not to mention, two of the guys I work with also came from South Africa. It's kinda good, yet freaky, having someone who have shared similar experience as myself so far away from SA. By the way, all three of the above mentioned people are not native Canadian/South Africans. They are just like me, originally from Taiwan.

So yes... small town, an even smaller world.
